What Does a NYC Parks Security Guard Do?

Members of the NYC Parks Security Service help preserve and protect New York City’s parks, beaches, playgrounds, recreation centers, and public spaces.

Duties include:

• Patrolling parks, beaches, and recreational facilities
• Advising visitors of park rules and regulations
• Providing customer service and assistance to patrons
• Monitoring public areas for safety concerns
• Conducting routine foot patrols

• Supporting public safety initiatives throughout NYC parks

Employees may also have the opportunity to complete the 8-hour and 16-hour Security Guard training courses while employed.

Background Check Requirements

Candidates not currently employed by New York City will be responsible for a $104.50 background investigation fee upon hire.

All candidates must successfully pass required screening before employment begins.
